Change-of-ĊAMYouths-name Process
By CAMYouths Admin @ 4:33 AM

|
Dear all,
With reference to the change-of-ĊAMYouths-name process launched during the ĊAMKamp, the following refers.
You may remember that during the Annual General Assembly back in February 2008, it was decided that the name 'ĊAMYouths' should be changed as it is a misnomer and does not reflect the changes and developments that our organisation went through over the past 12 years.
We are therefore launching the following process:
- initiating the process for changing the name 'ĊAMYouths' (mid-September 2008)
- it is important that the new name reflects ĊAMYouths' vision
- submitting suggestions for change of name (end of November 2008)
- by the stipulated deadline, every community must submit 2 potential name to the LC, as a result of a process of discernment, with an explanation for each name
- following the submission of the potential names, the list of suggested names will be circulated amongst the communities
- short-listing of preferred names (mid-January 2009)
- by the stipulated deadline, every community must select 2 names from the short-list and submit it to the LC
- following the submission of the 2 names by every community, and depending on the outcome of the preferences, the process of final selection will be set and announced by the LC
- choice of new name during AGA 2009 ( April 2009)
- branding and marketing of new name
We urge the Guides and the community which they accompany, to take this process with utmost responsibility and through a process of sincere discernment, lead the communities to choose a name for our organisation that best reflects its identity as developing in the present but which takes into consideration its future. It is extremely important that we all cooperate and engage in this process that will shape the journey of whom we have become and who we are as an organisation. We all have a chance to participate in this process; so let us all make the best of such great opportunity!
Thank you all, and may God bless us in this important phase.
Regards,
Renzo, Steve, Kenneth, Fr. Karm and Brian Leadership Committee

Evaluation of the NAPOLI Project

Dear all,
We refer to our announcement during the ĊAMKamp.
As LC we believe that it is high time that the Napoli Project is thoroughly evaluated. Kindly note that our intention is not to stop this project or put to a halt, butaAfter having engaged into such project for six consecutive years, we think it is wise to stop and have a look at this six-year-old experience with the aim of being brave enough to improve those areas which need improvement and strengthen what is developed and working well.
For this aim we have set up a team of four ĊAMYouths members whose remit is to devise an auditing system and engage into this process. For better objectivity, the team is made up of a good mix of people who have directly experienced the Napoli project as well as people who were involved in it to some extent or not involved at all. The team is made up of Kevin Grech (Stripes), Anabel Mifsud (Sin Fronteras), Paul Mizzi (Jovenes) and Amanda Muscat (Jovénes). We are more than positive that these four members, each with their own experience, will manage to strike a good balance within the team.
The team will be holding its first meeting very soon, following which they will establish their own terms of reference, and devise the process by which they will be evaluating the experience. We hope that the evaluation is concluded by the end of this year. Kindly note that members and non-members who have participated in one or more of the Napoli projects over the past six years, may be contacted for an interview. We therefore appreciate their full cooperation for the benefit of this project which is dear to many of us.
We take this opportunity to thank Kevin, Anabel, Paul and Amanda for accepting to form part of the said team, and to all thos who would be involved in one way or another, for their valid contribution.
Regards,
Renzo, Steve, Kenneth, Fr. Karm and Brian

Treasurer to CAMYouths

Dear all, We hope that this email finds you all well. We
would like to inform you that Jonathan Spiteri (Clusters) resigned from
the post of Treasurer to CAMYouths due to personal commitments. We
take this opportunity to thank Jonathan for his contribution in this
area.
We therefore approached Darren Micallef (Stripes) who
accepted to reassume the post in spite of his busy schedule. However,
in order to facilitate matters we took Darren's suggestion to appoint
two assistants who, under his supervision, would be responsible for the
book-keeping/accounting and for all the necessary transactions and
reporting required from time to time.
For this purpose we
appointed two assistants, namely Corinne Montefort (Equinox) and Marie
Claire Falzon (Crossroads), who shall have separate responsibilities
unless otherwise necessitated. Marie Claire shall be responsible for
the Napoli Projects accounts while Corinne shall be in charge of the
CAMYouths accounts. However, the three of them shall work together so
that we all operate on the same lines.
While we thank Darren
for taking on the role of Treasurer once again, and Marie Claire and
Corinne for accepting to assist him in this important role, we wish the
three of them all the best as they engage in this valuable contribution
towards the running operations of CAMYouths.
Regards, Renzo, Kenneth, Steve, Fr. Karm and Brian Leadership Committee

SJH 2008

Dear ĊAMYouths members,
For the second consecutive year, ĊAMYouths is committing itself to coordinate and organise the St. Joseph Home outreach project (SJH 2008), in which volunteers are invited to participate. The event consists of summer activities for the different units within St. Joseph Home run by the MSSP, which activities will be spread over the weeks of August. Activities will be organized on weekdays (Monday through Friday), during which the boys will be involved in different educational and/or fun activities.
The aim of the project is to assist St. Joseph Home in providing extra activities that enable the boys to enjoy summer time and have daily activities as part of their daily programme. The boys are divided into units, according to age, and each unit shall have individual activities as well as common activities with the rest of the units. Such grouping enables the activities to be tailored according to age as well as provide for more individual attention.
As a project, the SJH experience is fully in line with the core principles of ĊAMYouths, namely community, spirituality and mission. Such experience provides the volunteers with the opportunity to share themselves with others, especially with people in need. However, such service cannot take place outside the context of communion and spirituality. Thus the project is one whereby, through the course of preparation as well as during its realization, the volunteers are given ample opportunities to grow personally, spiritually and as a group.
Volunteers can commit themselves for specific times during the day and specific days during the week throughout the month of August. In other words, they are not requested to stay for the whole of the project. However, the more availability one gives the easier it would be to run the different activities as we would have enough manpower.
If you are interested in being part of the SJH 2008 experience, you can download the SJH 2008 – Formola ta' Applikazzjoni and send the completed form to infosjh@camyouths.com by not later than 30th April 2008. The SJH 2008 is open for ĊAMYouths members only, as long as they are 17 years of age and over. Kindly be informed that all applications shall be reviewed by a team directly responsible for this project, which team shall assess whether the candidates are eligible or not. Candidates with no previous experience of voluntary work or have little or no experience of community life are still eligible for the SJH 2008.

Napoli 2008 - Applications are open!

For the sixth consecutive year, ĊAMYouths is committing itself to coordinate and organise the Napoli 2008 outreach project, in which volunteers are invited to participate. The event consists of a summer camp for children/early teens organised by the Missionaries of Charity in Marianella, in the outskirts of Naples, which camp will be spread over five weeks during the period July to August. It would be running Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm, during which the children/early teens will be involved in different educational and/or fun activities. Each week would then be concluded with Sunday mass organized for the children/early teens and their families.
The children aged 5 to 13 years are usually divided into four main groups, according to age and gender, and each group shall be led by the youth volunteers. Such grouping enables the activities to be tailored according to age as well as provide for more individual attention. Last year's innovation was that participants aged 13 years and over formed part of a mixed group whose aim was to prepare and train them as future leaders; hence their role in the summer camp was that of Animatori. We hope that the same will happen in Napoli 2008.
The aim of the project is to assist the Missionaries of Charity take the children/early teens off the streets for some time, and provide them with an alternative environment where they can grow, have fun, make friends, and learn new things…an opportunity to live their childhood/early teen years in an ambience of welcome, simplicity and free from abuse.
As a project, the Napoli experience is fully in line with the core principles of ĊAMYouths, namely community, spirituality and mission. Such experience provides the volunteers with the opportunity to share themselves with others, especially with the poor and the needy. However, such service cannot take place outside the context of communion and spirituality. Thus the project is one whereby, through the course of preparation as well as during its realization, the volunteers are given ample opportunities to grow personally, spiritually and as community.
If you are interested in being part of the Napoli 2008 experience, you can download the Napoli 2008 – Formola ta' Applikazzjoni and send the completed form to infonapoli(at)camyouths.com by not later than 15th January 2008. The Napoli 2008 is open for both ĊAMYouths members and non-members, as long as they are 18 years of age and over. Kindly be informed that all applications shall be reviewed by a team directly responsible for this project, which team shall assess whether the candidates are eligible or not.
The application form can be downloaded from here.

Gheziez Guides u Membri tac-CAMYouths,

Dan iz-zmien huwa wiehed fejn isir hafna skambju ta’ rigali li hafna drabi jkunu affarijiet materjali, u li niehdu gost bihom. Peró tajjeb li nieqfu ftit u napprezzaw r-rigal taghna nfusna, ta’ hajjitna, ta’ persuni li hemm fil-qrib taghna, u hafna aspetti ohra li ftit li xejn napprezzaw imma li jaghtuna hafna sodisfazzjoni. U fost dawn hemm il-fatt li ahna lkoll ahna membri tac-CAMYouths u lkoll qed nghixu xi haga sabiha. Ghal xi whud minna dan il-vjagg ilu li beda u ghal ohrajn ghadu fil-bidu. Peró wasalna fejn wasalna tajjeb li naghrfu kemm ahna tajna lic-CAMYouths u lill-komunitajiet fi hdanu u kemm ircivejna. U dan huwa rigal li tajjeb li niccelebrawh. Ghalhekk awguri lilna lkoll.
Nixtiequ li s-sena li gejja nkomplu mexjin dan il-vjagg flimkien. Zgur li hemm hafna x’qed jistenniena u lest ghalina u tajjeb li nidhlu ghalih b’hafna entuzjazmu. Ahna min-naha taghna nirringrazzjaw lil kull wiehed u wahda minnkom talli intom taghmlu parti minn din l-esperjenza sabiha u talli tinvolvu ruhkom biex ic-CAMYouths ikompli jikber u jissahhah. Jalla t-twelid tal-Mulej jimlina bl-ispirtu ta’ ghotja kull fejn inkunu biex b’hekk inkomplu ninghataw ghal haddiehor u nkunu rigal ghal xulxin u nservu ta’ strument ta’ paci kull fejn inkunu.
